AGC Carbon Audit 2024:
Continued Progress Towards Net Zero

At AGC, we firmly believe in the old adage ‘what gets measured gets done,’ which is why we’ve been tracking our carbon footprint for several years now. Our 2024 Carbon Audit, prepared by Strategy B Consulting, provides vital insight into our emissions profile and, more importantly, highlights exactly where we need to focus to further reduce our footprint. This aligns with the new B Corp ‘Climate Action’ standards, which prioritise meaningful, urgent action to tackle climate change.

Continued Reduction in Emissions

In 2024, AGC’s total reported emissions were 91.9 tonnes of CO₂e, representing a 4.9% reduction compared to 2023. While changes in team size contributed to this reduction, this continues a broader trend of year-on-year emissions reduction, reflecting ongoing efforts across the business to operate more efficiently and responsibly.

Understanding Our Emissions

The audit provides a detailed breakdown of where emissions arise across our operations:

●      Transport & logistics: 38.7 t CO₂e (42%)

●      Waste & recycling: 22.6 t CO₂e (25%)

●      Business travel: 12.7 t CO₂e (14%)

●      Working from home: 7.8 t CO₂e (7%)

●      Commuting: 6.3 t CO₂e (6%)

●      Energy & utilities: 4.8 t CO₂e (5%)

This insight is valuable in helping us prioritise where we can make the biggest impact, particularly in areas such as logistics, waste, and travel.

Achieving Carbon Neutrality

We are proud to share that AGC has once again achieved carbon neutrality for 2024 through a combination of reduction and high-quality carbon offsetting initiatives.

To balance our remaining emissions, we have supported:

●      92 tonnes of CO₂e offset through Forestal el Arriero

●      50 tonnes of CO₂e offset through UK CarbonClub

These projects have been carefully selected to ensure they deliver meaningful environmental benefits, supporting both carbon reduction and wider ecological impact.

This approach allows us to take responsibility for our current footprint while continuing to focus on long-term reduction strategies.

Looking Ahead: Key Priorities

While we are proud of the progress made, we remain focused on further improvement. Our recent head office relocation provides an opportunity to fill data gaps and initiate more positive change.

Key priorities include:

●      Enhancing data accuracy across energy, waste, and logistics

●      Transitioning to lower-emission transport solutions

●      Continuing investment in circularity and waste reduction initiatives

●      Expanding measurement of supply chain emissions

●      Engaging suppliers to drive collective impact

Supporting a Growing Business Responsibly

As AGC continues to expand internationally, including activity in Dubai and New York, business travel remains an important part of how we collaborate with clients and partners. Whilst we were pleased to see our car mileage had reduced by 31%, we are conscious that long haul business flights contributed over half of our business travel emissions.

We are committed to balancing growth with responsible decision-making - reducing travel emissions where possible while starting to track our carbon intensity (emissions relative to revenue) to ensure our expansion remains truly sustainable.
