Meet Our B-Keeper

WE ARE B CORP CERTIFIED!

We sat down with our B-Keeper, Lauren Stoltzman, who sits at the helm of our B Corp journey, to discuss what it takes to become a B Corp certified company and what it means for us to have achieved this.

What does B Corp mean and what does it mean for us as a company?

A certified B Corp businesses give as much consideration to their social and environmental impact as they do to their financial returns. It is a certification for profit organisations who achieve a minimum score against a set of social and environmental standards.

It became increasingly important to our team to be working in an environment that not only delivered beautiful interiors but delivered interiors with a promise to make a positive impact on people and the planet. I’m extremely proud that we’ve achieved B Corp status and it makes us all even prouder to be part of the team at AGC.

What does being a B-Keeper involve?

As AGC’s B-Keeper, I report directly to the company founders to ensure that AGC is continuously striving to increase the number of B Corp points. In order to do this, we are continuously identifying small steps forward and measuring progress each step of the way.

Day-to-day, I coordinate internal B Corp working groups, including Sustainability and DEI teams to ensure a cohesive approach and monitor progress. As a primary point of contact for all B Corp matters, it is my responsibility to ensure that we are maintaining and improving on achieved standards and adopting clear and transparent communication strategies.

How has AGC done it and what did AGC do to get B Corp certified?

Our B-Corp journey started in the summer of 2021 and the first plan of action was to benchmark our business against B Corp standards using their points system. We then identified what improvements we could make which create the biggest impact in the smallest amount of time. This agenda included re-assessing all internal processes, structures, and legalities, creating a B Corp focus team internally in addition to Sustainability and DEI Groups. We enforced charitable working hours amongst our team, defined our pledge to donate a portion of our profits each year to charities, involved and educated our supply chain on our mission and the list goes on!

To ensure full transparency, we created a page on our website which declares ‘Our Responsibility‘ and links to our ‘Sustainability Manifesto,‘ which are ambitions that have been aligned with Walpole to deliver on a shared ambition of creating a more sustainable industry for Britain’s top Luxury Brands.

What do you see the next steps being after B Corp?

That’s the beauty, there is no ‘after B Corp’. B Corp is a continuous journey of improvement giving businesses the structure and guidance to do better. Next up for us on our journey is delving deeper into the art of Carbon Neutrality, becoming a more prominent face for providing opportunity to all in the design industry and delving deeper into environmental awareness of our industry’s supply chain.

Becoming B Corp certified was a huge milestone for us and we’re looking forward to our continuous and committed journey to sustainability in the future. Visit Our Responsibility page for more information.
