Plan B, And Making It Count: Our 2024 Impact Highlights

A year of real progress, honest reflection, and rethinking what good business looks like.

 
 

In January 2023, we became a certified B Corp™, a milestone that challenged us to rethink the way we design, source, and create. Since then, we’ve been digging deeper into our supply chains, pushing for more accountability from our partners, and working towards full traceability so our clients and collaborators know exactly what stands behind every product.

For us, sustainability isn’t a buzz word. It’s about designing with care, making pieces that last, and finding ways to repair, reuse, and even rent, reducing waste while adding value.

We also know that meaningful change is a long game. It requires ambition, consistency, and the courage to keep raising the bar. Our latest impact report is a snapshot of that journey so far, the progress we’ve made, the lessons we’ve learned, and the goals that still lie ahead.

We believe that by setting higher standards for ourselves and collaborating openly, we can drive change that goes far beyond interiors.

 
 

Things We Are Proud Of

  1. Pioneering our industry & becoming the first B Corp™ certified interior design collective.

  2. Publishing our refreshed sustainability manifesto with more precise refinements to some of our most ambitious goals.

  3. Becoming the first interior design collective to have our near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets validated by the SBTi.

  4. Offsetting 176.5 tonnes CO2e of carbon and achieving carbon neutrality in both 2022 and 2023.

  5. In 2023, we achieved a 7% reduction in like-for-like emissions vs 2022.

  6. Commencing our audit of Scope 3 emissions which is a challenging initiative for our industry.

  7. Achieving greater transparency in product and supplier data to support our commitment to 100% traceability and responsible sourcing.

  8. Relaunching our DEI pledge to ensure it is more detailed and meaningful, working in harmony with our sustainability manifesto.

  9. Annually welcoming interns from United in Design’s graduate apprenticeship scheme.

  10. Initiating the “B Corps™ of the interiors world” community.

  11. Relaunching our Accouter Academy pack to ensure our new team members have the support, guidance, and training they need to succeed from day 1.

What’s Next?

From September, we’ll begin preparing for our B Corp recertification, and we’ll be among the first companies globally to certify under the new, more rigorous standards. The bar has been raised, and achieving B Corp status will be more demanding than ever.
